Short life. No factory support.

I purchased over 30 of these cameras from AmazonThe good:1)Great definition2)Very wide angle.3)Solid state PTZ functionThe bad:1)Right after 2 years of operation, the image sensor goes bad and they start producing psychedelic colors, until they quit working. This happens even though they are indoors.2)Axis will not repair them, and will not sell you the image sensor. They just tell you to get new cameras.3)About half of the cameras have died.

Good Camera but that night vision

The Axis 212 is a good product, the picture quality is very good and it has great features. But the lack of night vision was a problem for me. Good quality camera

I like this camera, but it's not entirely what I expected. The web interface works well with Firefox & IE. It also works with Chrome, but the crosshair click action does not always work. I was expecting to be able to get a larger higher quality image with the zoom, but you basically have a large fish-eye view which when zoomed is corrected to look flat, but beyond that you can't really get a fine detailed image. It's also heavy and off-balance, which is ok for a wall or ceiling mount, but not so great for a tripod. Not thrilled about the flimsy plastic cover. All in all, Axis makes wonderful cameras and this one is another example.

effective but cheap

I would recommend this if you are on a low budget. I only had my Camera for 6 months and the camera went out, total black screen. Zmodo tried to fix it via over the phone. When nothing worked I had to send it back for repair/replacement. I havent gotten my camera back yet. I give it two stars since it broke in such a short time frame, but yet had a good quality picture when it did work.

Not a bad PTZ Cam

This isn't the greatest PTZ cam, but for the price I am not complaining all that much. Its 420TVL, the color is not that great, but it could be worse. The night vision is pretty dam good. I have it mounted on the side corner of my house so I get the most use of it possible. I am only in a 1 story home, so my lift, tilt up, is limited. When at max zoom I can look at my neighbors grass nicely. I am sure this cam was meant to be mounted on a second story or higher.While I am happy with this cam, I will be looking for a better one in the future. But for not this one serves my needs nicely.

Has some issues

This is my first experience with a PTZ camera and I guess that for the price, it's not a bad unit. Installation was easy, but I had to go to the Zmodo website to find the polarity of the RS485 connection. The installation manual is a poor translation from Chinese to English.My main complaints are with the night vision, and the weatherproofing.At night, the IR lights are so intense that they create a reflection in the lens that makes it appear that there is a halo around the screen. Also, the lights have a tendency to bleach out anything that is within 100' of the camera. The combination of these items make this camera pretty much useless at night.Regarding the weatherproofing. If this camera has a fan or a heater, they are not working. Overnight, condensation forms on the inside of the lens and makes the image unusable. The condensation clears quickly after daybreak when the unit warms up. During the day, and in warmer weather, the camera performs as promised.I'm giving it two stars because it doesn't perform as promised at night.Zmodo 420TVL 4-88mm High Speed PTZ 22X Zoom Outdoor Weatherproof Security Camera CM-Z2213GYUpdate 03/09/13 Fogging issue has mostly cleared up, still a halo around the image, but you can still see images at night. The IR distance is quite impressive. I can see images at least 200 feet away. For the price, I would definately recommend.

Very good, inexpensive starter setup.

Pros:-Very inexpensive-Comes with all you need to get started (4 cameras, you can add up to another 4)-flexibly programmable for each channel: Framerate, motion alarms, privacy areas, schedules,more...-Can be accessed on your local network or via internet if you have the network chops to config that.-The DVR is the latest relase from the manufacturer, as of 2/2012-Support is great, was willing to talk me through a few setup questions and workaround one bug I found in their firmware (see below)Cons:-Wires seem to be lacking a bit in shielding, they pick up a little intereference when run at full length through attic where other A/C wires are.-Included cameras are not the sharpest image. Considering they are practically thrown in for free...-Total supported framerate a bit on the low side, buy forgiveable at the current price point.-Shipping from the manufacturer took a month. I noticed that after I put the order in, so shame on me, I'm spoiled.For reference, I paid One Hundred and Thirty dollars in January '12. If you're handy enough to install your own hard drive, this might be one to get. Recommend a 500gb at least. Manufacturer told me not to go all the way to 2TB, they've run into problems with stability with that big a drive. Don't forget to make it an AV rated hard drive. I used a Western Digital Green Power 500gb, which worked fine!Also, ran into one problem: you must use IE to view the box over the network. And, IE 9 has a glitch with setting up alarm areas per each channel. IE 8 works fine, or just go to the console to set it up there. Support is now aware of the problem.So now its set up and running... I already used it to identify who masking-taped a flyer to the front of my house, just for fun.

Horrific Customer Service Bad Quality.

The DVR is not of the best quality and mine broke after about 6 month. The hold time for customer service representative is very long and when you get them they are not paying attention to what you are saying. The company is not cognizant of customers time. I would rather pay a bit more and get better quality product from a company that provides better customer service. T

Bad color on all channels

The unit seems to function OK, but the color an all channels has a problem. The trees are purple and the HUE control does not work. I have seen this problem in the past when the 3.58MHz osc had a problem. I think I should send the unit back for replacement. Also, I have not been able to make the motion mask work. I still think the unit is worth the money and the problems are minor so far, but the color problem makes it look worse than B&W...The cameras have a very good picture, much better than the cameras I had been using. The nite vision has a much better range than my old cameras also.PS I have not been able to make it show up on Firefox. And some of the settings don't work with Internet Explorer. Still worth the money.

Piece of junk!

This is a total piece of junk. The field of view is very tiny and it requires bright daylight to record anything. During the evening with normal household lighting it records nothing but shadows. No audio, just video.

Mediocre

It looks and behaves like a normal clock. Programming only offers a 24 hour clock, not a daily setting. For example, I wanted to video M-T from 6am-6pm and shorter times on W-F so it would have to be reprogrammed or you risk running out of memory faster. I tried a larger memory chip, but the card gets extremely hot. You can't designate certain times for each day. This combined with the small memory forces me to empty the card each evening - I found this to be inconvenient. It does work, but the image quality isn't great. Had to keep it on the lowest grade so it wouldn't consume the memory. Overall it performs good for the price.

Bought it from Amazon. Item came earlier than expected - super prompt delivery. This item was easy to set up for use as per instructions provided. Used a 16gb SD card instead of the 2gb provided and it work just fine. One comment though, picture quality under dim lights can be improved.

As always Amazon's fulfillment was exceptional. This camera is an improvement of the previous model (F18905W) in image quality. The night vision is outstanding and bright. Clearly illuminating my driveway and rear entryway at a distance of approx 50ft. The issue I had in the installation to a Windows 7 machine was caused by the user account security built into Windows 7. The install software is not certified and required disabling all security before installation could be accomplished. The NEW camera software for this H.264 camera is different and not very user friendly at this point - will require some learning as the documentation leaves much to be desired. At present I am unable to get this camera and my other 2 cameras (F18910W) to recognize each other on the camera software so logging onto one camera will allow me to see all 3 camera's. Again I think this MAY be due to the learning curve and setup. I just haven't gotten around to resolving this issue yet. The only other major complaint I would have is the mount is NOT as secure as I would have liked. It will not take much to have this mount slip and move the camera. Dollar for dollar this is an excellent choice and I would not hesitate to recommend Foscam to anyone looking to install security cameras. ( Which I have and 3 of my friends have purchased and installed Foscam cameras as a result).

Step backwards for Foscam

I own several Foscam camera's and have been very happy with them. They have taken a step backwards with this one. Image quality was great but the viewing angle was horrible. I would need 3 cameras to monitor the width of my driveway. This model is also not supported by most iphone apps, sensr.net which I use to upload my images to and to view it in the browser on an Iphone or iPad is awful. As others have said, the mounting bracket is also a joke. I have returned mine and will look for another model.

Quit working after 1 week

I bought this item 9-30-12, it is not for the novice, It is not plug and play, however if you research it you can get it to perform. The camera was great the first day then the frame rate started dropping and performance suffered. By the end of the first week picture was very poor. Then it failed to load and nothing I tried helped so I returned the camera. I replaced it with a Foscam F18601W so far so good, Frame rate around 30 Fps , good picture. Perhaps I just got a bad camera the first time.
