wireless is unreliable

So, I have been evaluating this camera and a 207mw for a week now and related Axis software. (See reviews of the 207mw) The 211w is much more reliable than the 207mw, although, I have seen the 211w hang in a similar fashion to the 207. Just not as often. The recover to this hang is a power cycle to the camera, unacceptable when you are not there. The property I wish to monitor remotely does not have CAT-5 wiring, so wireless was the way to go...so I thought. These cameras must be 100% reliable over the wireless network, otherwise, they are no better than a paper weight. I would not recommend buying this camera for its wireless capability until Axis gets their bugs fixed. Running a 2wire modem 2701. Firmware 4.40.1 on the 211w, 4.44 on the 207mw.

So after spending $700 on the camera, $299 on the outdoor housing (http://www.amazon.com/Axis-T92A10-Housing1-Heater-s/dp/B00488HPBC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1347250096&sr=8-3&keywords=211w+housing+axis) and $130 on the external antenna (http://www.amazon.com/Acc-Outdoor-Antenna-Requires-211W/dp/B000SO409A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347250125&sr=8-2&keywords=211w+external+antenna). I have a $1,100 outdoor wifi camera that won't stream video but ~8hrs a day. I have to constantly power cycle the camera and it will work for 8-12 hours then lose connection despite the router being only 20 feet away. RUN far, FAR away from this camera unless you plan on putting it indoors on a hardwired connection, if that's your plan then save $500 and buy one without wifi or outdoor capable, as this camera is completely and totally useless for its stated goals. I really wanted to like this camera, the picture quality is great (not so great if you average it out over the couse of a day since 2/3s of the time I have a blank screen) and other axis products I have work great, this one however is a DUD, and I bought 2 sets of them and they BOTH do this.

IP Camera

Great Camera. I have had previous experience with Axis cameras and love the quality and setup. Wireless is always a bit of a hit or miss when it comes to distance from router. The big problem I have with this order is that the package had obviously been opened. $700.00 and you get a opened pack? Did someone return it? Works fine but no more big axis orders from amazon again.
