Great idea, horrible product

I've seen this same device from a lot of different vendors on the internet, all for the same $295, so I figured they must be popular and thus they work; wrong! The first time I plugged it in and tested, it worked, but it didn't start recording until a few minutes after being activated. I tried it again, and it created video 'files' on the SD card, but they were not recordings, just empty files. I tried this thing over and over, dozens of times in many different locations, I tried 4gb, 8gb and 16gb micro SD cards, nothing worked after the initial test. The idea of it is so smart and stealth, I thought this would be PERFECT to bust whomever it is in my office that is stealing, alas this thing is junk. Same is true with the little alarm clock camera that's going around for anywhere between $30 and $95, only it is worse, it actually corrupts the SD cards and renders them un-formattable! I guess for under a thousand bucks, they just can't make a decent product for stealth, motion activated recording. I've noticed that these things are always Korean or Chinese, maybe the brains in the US ought to take a crack at it.....

i purchased and received timely but despite all that i got from the manufacturer, i could never get the software to read the video. Tech support was no help. The advertisement was that all you need is MPEG 4. Not true.

Fatal Flaw in Camera

The system has a FATAL FLAW. It records to a memory card at 1 minute per meg. I THOUGHT that when the memory card was full it would write over the oldest file. Not so, the camera just stops working! So if you have a cat in the house you're going to get lots of images of the cat and then when you have a break in you will see that the unit quit recording some time ago.The recording codec is apparently not a standard. I gave a file for a friend to received and he could not open it. All AVI files are not the same. I am a geek and have numerous applications so I could open it. I work for a Fortune 500 company and my office desktop could not open the file. This may be a poor choice in file format on the vendor's part. Tech support did not know what application definitely would open the file type.So you will have to remember to weekly erase the memory card to keep things going. BAD IDEA FOR A PLUG IN AND FORGET ITEM.
