Very good purchase

The item can very quickly and very well packaged. WE installed it easily and used it for a couple hours on the first day. The picture quality was very good even at the lower resolution. I'm not a tech person but my friend is and really liked it. Excellent purchase for the amount spent.

Good video, poor software

The camera takes good quality video, and works well in the dark. Setup was difficult due to the poorly translated instructions into English. I had significant issues getting it to communicate with my wireless router. It turns out that the camera's MAC address changes whenever the IP address changes. That makes it impossible to use the MAC address filtering security feature with wireless routers. I had to turn off this feature in my router to get it to work wirelessly. The software that comes with it (named CMS) is very "cheesy" for lack of a better word. It's unreliable, crashes often (I'm using Windows XP), and produces "avi" files that can't be viewed with any standard video players. You have to use the CMS software to use the motion detection feature, and to view recorded history. You can communicate with the camera using Internet Explorer, can record video, but motion detection doesn't work. Good hardware isn't of much use with poor software.
