Great cameras

The cameras arrived within 2 days (Amazon Prime), and were easy to install. The software that comes with the camera is somewhat difficult to understand, but I got it to work after a while. I did order the Blue Iris Software (and 2 more cameras) a few days later. The picture is very clear and the colors are great. The night vision is bright and clear as well. Movement of the camera is great. I would recommend the cameras to everyone.

Good, but not easy

I bought three of these cameras to monitor my children. They set up was easy for the first, but number two and three required a little bit more know-how with IP and ports, etc. The picture quality if good. Great for use with the Apple products.

Purchased 2 pack with extended antennas from Amazon (via Foscam); product arrived within two days (Amazon Prime). Great cameras, good quality. They easily connected to an older D-link wifi router, but I decided to upgrade my router. Now connecting to a Buffalo WZR-600DHP, I had a bit of difficulty getting it set up, but called Foscam support and they were EXCELLENT - Leo reconfigured both cameras as well as ensured my router had the proper settings. Unlike some companies' customer support where you feel rushed due to imposed time limits on support calls, Leo called me direct, then spent the necessary time with me, taking control of my computer remotely and configuring everything for me. Great support - thank you Leo and Foscam!There IS a downside, but I can suggest a workaround: After much troubleshooting on why the rest of my network performance decreased (iPad and laptops, from 30Mbps wireless down to 5-9Mbps), I realized that as MJPG cameras, these are bandwidth hogs. I have 30Mbps Internet connection, but each device was crippled. I ended up connecting an extra router I had as a wifi hotspot, and am using that to connect only the cameras. With this setup, all other devices are maintaining the 30Mbps connection to the main wi-fi network. Note even with this setup, if you are planning to view these remotely via port forwarding, anyone in your home may experience network slowage due to the heavy nature of MJPG cams (on my test doing Internet viewing of my cams, the performance of home computers degraded by 10-20Mbps; a significant thing to think about if you are primarily getting these for remote viewing while you're away and others are still using your network...I'm going to be investigating impact of H.264 cameras on bandwidth as an alternative to allow remote Internet viewing to have less impact on my network users (family) when I'm not at home. Regardless of the performance degradations and gotchas, I still think these are great cameras to have...Side note - works very well with Synology Diskstation/Surveillance Station (SS), including motion sensors and recording movements. One challenge to be aware of with Synology Surveillance Station is that the Synology controls aren't as precise as the Foscam-provided controls. Foscam controls allow you to nudge the camera pan/tilt slightly, while Synology's SS controls allow less sensitive movement (will call Synology next, hope their support is as good as Foscam's!). Update: Synology hadn't heard of this issue, and asked me to open a support ticket on their website. Will revise this part when I hear back from them...
