4Best HD Pan/Tilt Cam for the Money
By toph24
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3QG3X5KEX4A3I The HD quality is amazing. I can't ever go back to the SD cameras. I realize that this isn't an outdoor-rated camera but I couldn't resist putting it on my roof for testing purposes as seen in the video and photos I've uploadedI purchased two FI9820W HD cameras (in black) directly from foscam.us and encountered a few issues with both (decreasing the liklihood of a defective cam). The Good... HD! (1280 x 720)The Not So Good...1) Foscam.us customer support has been unresponsive thus far to my email requests to aid in troubleshooting.[UPDATE] Foscam.us customer support responded to my email after a few weeks and admitted they have minimal experience and knowledge of this camera and redirected me to the manufacturer's Chinese support. I imagine this will be very painful.2) The software doesn't allow you to create a custom user name like the FI8910W. You have three account options; Administrator, User, and Guest. All of which appear it seems cannot be disabled. I guess they expect you to come up with some complex passwords for the accounts you don't plan on using and hope nobody gets in (if you care about that sort of thing.)3) The SD cams such as the FI8910W are far superior in low-light situations where some type of ambient light source is used. Yes, the FI9820W has infrared and IR-cut, but its light sensitivity and overall quality in low-light situations is lacking for this HD camera.4) Pan/Tilt sensitivity and speed controls are no longer available via the web-based configuration.5) TCP ports 80 or 1024 through 49151 are the only ports available through the web-based configuration. Foscam's FI8910W allows you to use any TCP port which I prefer. Not sure why they've decided to restrict certain ports on this newer camera.6) WiFi pass key input field in the web-based configuration doesn't appear to accept wireless pass keys with special characters such as $, &, @, !, etc...7) Camera appears to drop frames when video quality settings are set to max.8) Field of view is narrower than the FI8910W even though they both claim to come with 3.6mm lenses which equates to roughly a 35 to 45 degree viewing angle (depending on other camera variables)Despite these shortcomings, I still plan on keeping my FI9820W cameras and would be buying more right now if they weren't out of stock on foscam's site. Currently, they're about 20-ish bucks cheaper there with free shipping.[UPDATE] The current Amazon seller wants 220 bucks for this cam. That's crazy! Foscam.us is still selling it for 160.

1Super dissapointed.......
By lotrbfme
As the previous reviewer stated, there are a LOT of issues with this new camera. I tried several times sending emails and chatting online with customer support without any reply. Thats the worst part... they are not a good company. I own 4 FI9818W and I prefer using them. This camera is not well supported on Chrome nor Mozilla and you cannot link them to the other cameras using the multiple camera interface. No mobile app is compatible with this camera and the worst thing if the FOV. Its supposed to be the same as the previous model but its not... They lie, the FOV is too small and the camera has zoom on it that cant be removed. No way to make the camera PT faster or slower. The PT Speed is dissapointing and overall I will return this camera and buy the previous model... Its way better... Please do not buy this junk...

1Garbage, even Foscam knows it
By JP
To prove the 8920 is complete garbage all you need to know is Foscam appears to be washing their hands of this model. They've quickly released the 8921 to take its place and seem to be saying to owners of the 8920 "too bad so sad". Mine took two weeks to get it working (barely working), IR is terrible, the motor sounds like a rusty wheel when you pan the camera. Connecting remotely via smartphone? Forget it. A terrible product and no support for the suckers that wasted their money on it. It's the last Fos product I will ever own.
