4Reliability and Good Value
By Billy Bob
I've been running this camera for 4 months without any problems. I use it mainly to see who's driving up to the house while I work at home and to keep an eye on things when I'm not home.I mounted it outdoors under a short awning which provides it some protection from the elements, but it has functioned well in windy, rainy conditions. Our temperatures don't normally drop below 32°F so I can't speak to performance in freezing temperatures. The web interface is a bit clunky, but does the job.The image quality is decent, just be aware that you'll see some high contrast between brightly lit and shaded areas. You're at the mercy of the camera's aperture control for deciding which area to set the exposure for.The motion detection with email notifications is a nice feature. It emails a sequence of images to one or multiple email addresses. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection so you don't keep getting emails on windy days when the trees and bushes are getting blown around. Some caveats:If you're not using a PC with IE, you won't be able to hear any sound. I use a mac so I can't speak to the quality of the audio.I opted to wire the camera to my home network router using an ethernet cable for better performance and have not tried connecting to it wirelessly. If you're looking for a basic outdoor security cam that can pan, zoom, tilt, and is reasonably priced, this camera should suit you fine.

4Impressive for the Price
By Vincent P. Domeraski
I have two of these working, one of which was out of focus. This camera appears to be identical to the Loftec and there is an excellent review over there that covers the focus and green issues. My camera is installed on the side of the house with the cable running to a square box inside of which are the ends of the power and network cables. Fixing the focus, after a couple of false starts, went like this: I loosened the top two screws, removed the bottom two on the base where it attaches to the hanger bracket and removed the unit. I uncsrewed the dome, pointed the camera lense down, using the software, and was able to access the two silver set screws that are on either side of the camera itself. There is only a little more than an eighth of an inch of play, but moving the camera in and out adjusts the focus. A partner at the computer guided my adjustment till the focus was right.I was hoping that our yard light, which illuminates the front yard quite well, would be enough for this camera at night, but that isn't the case. A stationary IR seems to be the only option if you want night viewing at a reasonable price. I use Vitamin-D software (which recognizes this camera as a Foscam) and an inside IR camera for intruder detection, but I like to be able to pan and zoom around the house and yard when I'm away. This camera and software are great for that.

3Have to take it apart
By Eric
Its a good camera, but it was focused to about 2 feet when i got it. I had to look up online how to unscrew the dome, and adjust the lens. Looks good now. Was easy to set up, but you probably will need a little philips screw driver to adjust it before use.
