Excellent Quality!

I'm giving this camera 5 stars not because it's perfect, but it is an excellent camera that with a few tweeks it could easily be the benchmark for all IP cameras.Pros:- Excellent quality picture (day & Night) even though it is not HD- 24 hr Alert Scheduler - Schedule exactly what day and what time of day to activate alerts- 15 Preset positions (This is my favorite feature because you can go right to the exact position you have set)- Large Pan/tilt area coverage. One camera covers all of my great room and part of my upstairs- Excellent customer support. I sent an email on Sunday and got a response within an hour. Customer support even called me from Germany the next day to get my feedback on the camera. I spent an hour with them on the phone talking about their product as well as the competitors products. Then again, this camera comes from Germany, not China, even though it physically looks like many of the China brands.- Third party Mobile apps work with this camera (I use IP Cam Viewer for Android)- Email alerts that send out 6 pics with each alert (very responsive)- Responsive live video, virtually no delays at all.Cons:- Cloud recorder storage has a monthly charge, however you can record to your computer.- Android app has minimal features, but I use a full featured third party app anyway- Weak internal speaker. Not an issue for me because I don't care about audio, but there is an external speaker jack.- No SD card storage availableOverall this is a great camera. I have tried Foscam, Dropcam and several other Chinese brands and this blows them all away. Also, this camera is not even their top of the line camera, but for a $109 it is a bargain.

Instar 3011 - So far so good

Nice, solid product. Not too big. I don't own any other brands to compare it to, but so far so good. I had no problems getting it all setup, with newest firmware as well, but then I'm comfortable working with computers and networks. Infrared works great as well as audio. Motion detection works with the camera sending emails and recording to my computer in avi format. The iphone app works too. The company has it's own DDNS that you can use with port forwarding when connecting to your camera outside the local network.You can leave your computer off if you don't want to record video and it will still send emails on motion detect - the only problem is that the camera time doesn't stay synced with the computer off, so when you start the Web GUI again you'll have to sync the camera time. And this means the time noted in the email isn't the real time the camera caught the activity. Note that this is only when Motion Detect is set to on. When Motion Detect is off and you start up the Web GUI, the time is synced - very weird. Just leave the computer on I guess or hope for a firmware fix.We'll see how the unit holds up long term.
