Trash camera, trash support

This camera is junk. I bought it for my front porch, to monitor people coming to the front door. It's outdoors, but very sheltered on the ceiling of the porch. It doesn't get wet, or anything else.The camera failed after about 9 months, just one day stopped working.Supposedly the warranty is 2 years, but I opened a support ticket with Vivotek (slogan "Built for reliability", how about that) on September 26, 2012, received a ticket number and the autoresponse and nothing since. Excellent intermediate, semi dark camera

I installed a system of POE cameras and connected to a POE switch, so only had to run single Cat5e cable to cameras. I put in two of these cameras. They are OK, but not great. I put them on patios so they get residual light from landscaping and security lights. They work in total darkness but very limited distance.I do get pixelation on this camera except in daylight. Longest distance is approx. 65 feet.Took all of about 10 minutes to install after running the Cat5e. Strongly recommend a mini-sd card inside.Once connected into your network setup is quick and easy and you can access from a website directly to IP address. You can remotely watch from website and iPad. That is lots of bandwidth though. Mine are all connected to a QNAP NAS server.

Good Image, lacking on night vision

I have installed lots of CCTV and IP cameras and for the price this image is spectacular. The IR lights are definitely lacking. On a dark night (minimal moon)you get about 10 feet of IR view. This runs on the normal 850NM light frequency so any additional IR light source will increase the view-ability.We mounted this vertically on our house and it looks really really good.
